Comic and superhero fans, Marvel has delivered yet another great ride with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Vol.2 was everything promised and more. Here's what I can tell you about Marvel's latest without giving you any spoilers:
Vol.2 is a lot more emotional than its predecessor. Every character has some meaningful development that gives the audience insight into their inner selves and their relationships. Some moments were so intense that I actually cried. (Thank goodness I had a tissue in purse so I could surreptitiously dab at my eyes while using my hair as a shield.) However, along with the great emotional moments, overly cheesy ones did manage to sneak in as well, which was a bit disappointing, as a few Disney fairytale-esque lines did make for one or two cringe-y scenes.
But rest assured: More emotion (and some accompanying cheesiness) doesn't mean that the humor has lessened--because it hasn't. Be prepared to laugh at unexpected times at witty one-liners and some nicely-executed jokes. Then be prepared for some serious suspense and great action scenes. It's all there--romance, included. (Trust me, I'm a sucker for a well-written, believable romance.)
All in all, if you haven't seen Vol.2 yet, rectify that immediately because if you liked the first Guardians movie, I can guarantee that you'll enjoy this one. And if you're anything like me, you might even go to see it a second time.
